The Springfield, Illinois Housing Authority Board of Commissioners discussed grant applications during its recent meeting.

A total of three grant applications were considered by the board. The first was to submit an application to the 2016 Capital Fund Program Grant Program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This grant, if approved, would be for $1,227,768.

The remaining two grants would fall under the 2016 Replacement Housing Fund Grants, also from HUD. These would amount to $15,270 and $98,180.

This meeting also included the board’s consideration of a resolution that would increase the contracted amount for pest control services with the inclusion of bed bug prevention and wildlife prevention alongside other pest control services.

The board also took into consideration the approval for a voucher program contract with Bear Development LLC and Construction Management Associates in order to support the Section 8 Project as well as a lease agreement with the Springfield Community Federation for office space on Brandon Drive.

The meeting minutes from the commission’s previous meeting that took place on Jan. 25 were also considered for approval.
