Ball-Chatham Board of Education to discuss various position recommendations

The Ball-Chatham Community Unit School District #5 in Chatham, Illinois will be considering the hiring of several positions during tonight's meeting.

Hiring recommendations have been made for two full-time positions, one school psychologist and a principal for Ball Elementary School. Alongside these recommendations are several part-time positions including a cook, cafeteria supervisor, coaches and school bus drivers, among others.

Mary Button has been recommended to serve as the school psychologist and the salary would be set at $43,615.28. She would begin in this role on April 4 should her employment be approved by the board. The agenda states that Button is licensed as a psychologist and holds an education specialist degree and a master’s degree in school psychology.

Tricia Burke has been recommended to serve as the Ball Elementary School principal on a one-year contract basis with a salary of $80,000. Burke holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and in reading and literacy.

The board will also be reviewing the resignation of two staff members.

This meeting will begin with an executive session at 5:45 p.m. and will open for a full session at 6:30 p.m. at the Ball-Chatham Administrative Center.
