Mattoon City Council expected to approve loan for library tonight

The Mattoon City Council is expected to approve a $40,000 interfund loan from the General Fund to the Mattoon Library during its 6:30 p.m. meeting today.

The council also is expected to approve a bid contract by AJ Walker to reconstruct Marshall Avenue between Sixth and Ninth Streets. The council also is expected to approve a measure to use fuel-tax revenue to fund this project, which includes sewer, curb, gutter, driveway and sidewalk repairs.

The council also is expected to approve the use of hotel/motel tax revenue to fund grants for the EIU Kinesiology Department to host the IHSA Girls Badminton State Tournament May 13-14 and for EIU Athletics and the IHSA to host the Girls and Boys Track and Field State Meets May 19-21 and May 26-28, respectively.
