Riverton Village Board recognizes Eagle Scouts

The Riverton Village Board met Dec. 5 to recognize Eagle Scouts.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held the Tax Levy Public Hearing on December 5th, 2016 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL. It was opened to the public from 6:45-6:52 with no comments.

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on December 5th, 2016 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Carl Fisher, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Tina Raycraft. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Superintendent Lyons, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, and Treasurer Lashonda Fitch.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Mayor Rader held a moment of silence for Marjorie Todd.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve November 21st meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Bartley, Patrick, Charles, Raycraft, and Mileham voted yes. Trustee Fisher abstained.

There was no one to address the board.

Old Business: Trustee Charles stated that the tree and stump are out and they can now move forward looking into quotes for the new building.

New Business:

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #16-011 Recognizing Kody Taylor as Eagle Scout. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #16-012 Recognizing Noah Smaage as Eagle Scout. Trustee Fisher seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Milham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Charles made a motion to approve Resolution #16-013 Recognizing Andrew Charles as Eagle Scout. Trustee Fisher seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Milham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #16-014 Recognizing Jack Hanson as Eagle Scout. Trustee Raycraft seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Milham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #16-015 Recognizing Isaac Nordyke as Eagle Scout. Trustee Charles seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Milham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Charles made a motion to ratify the boring bill for the storm drain on 4th Street that collapsed for the cost of under $5,700. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the calendar of meeting dates for 2017. Trustee Raycraft seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve Ordinance #16-022 for the Levy and Assessment of Taxes for the Village of Riverton, Illinois for the Fiscal Year Beginning May 1, 2016 and ending April 30, 2017. Trustee Raycraft seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #16-016 Resolution for Maintenance of Streets and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois Highway Code (2017 MFT Budget). Trustee Fisher seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report).

Officer Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached).

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report. Mayor Rader stated that PSN is good to go and they can begin using it soon. The website should go live on 1/1/17 if there are no more kinks to be fixed.

Treasurer Fitch had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Administration Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Raycraft, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, stated that they will have a committee meeting on 12/15 at 6:00 P.M.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that the benches for Center Park are here.

Trustee Fisher, chairman of the Public Works, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that the 7th grade girls’ basketball team was at state this week. There will be a resolution honoring them on next meeting’s agenda. The Zoning board is having a meeting next Monday at 7:00 P.M. to discuss annexations. At the 12/19 board meeting, there will be a Public Hearing beforehand on Annexation agreements. There will then be ordinances on that meeting agenda for those annexations. He added that there are other parcels working on being annexed in as well. This should happen around February or March.

Mayor Rader stated that he and Chief Lawley spoke with the 2nd grade class this week and also mentioned that Santa will be at the Village Hall on 12/10 from 11-1.

There was no closed session due to no current updates.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:35. Trustee Charles seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Fisher, Bartley, Mileham, and Raycraft voted yes.
