Gardner ranked 175th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Gardner had the 175th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- up 17 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Gardner was $30.02 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Sangamon Sun, Gardner generated $43,050 in net sales from its two lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $45,620.50 in May 2015.


The village of Gardner is in Grundy County, and has a population of 1,434, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are South Wilmington.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $20,432.30.

Gardner's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #2230 located at 426 W Main St, Gardner, IL 60424.

Caseys Gen Store #2230 generated 73 percent of Gardner's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of Grundy County's sales that month, which was $1,164,641.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Grundy County in 2015 were Dwight, Diamond, Coal City, Mazon and Gardner.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
