Sangamon County Jail Committee met March 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee

Members present: Joel Tjelmeland- Chair, Annette Fulgenzi – Vice Chair, Tony DelGiorno, Tim Krell, Tom Madonia, Ryan Melchin, Rose Ruzic & Linda Douglas-Williams

Members absent: George Preckwinkle

Others present: Sheriff Campbell, Jail Superintendent Beck, Coroner Allmon, Tim Eggleston & Mary Carter (Secretary)

A quorum was present. Chair Tjelmeland called the meeting to order at 1200p. Chair requested a motion to approve the minutes of the February 18th meeting. Krell made a motion and Ruzic seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

REPORTS:

Sheriff Campbell – gave his report Jail Superintendent – gave his report. Coroner’s Office- gave his report.

New Business:

Coroner’s Office: Jim Allmon

1. Purchase Order & County Board Resolution-John Scott Denton for pathologist fees in the amount of $225,000. DelGiorno made a motion to approve and Melchin seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

2. Approval to Hire a Death Investigator at an annual salary of $54,275 effective 3/20/20. The previous employee left the position on 2/11/20. Krell made a motion to approve and Ruzic seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

Tim Eggleston:

1. Purchase Order-Ray O’Herron Co for FY20 ammunition in the amount of $10,351.

2. Purchase Order-Fitness For All for treadmill & reverse hyper in the amount of $6,340.

3. Purchase Order-SkimOil Inc for drug disposal incinerator in the amount of $4,590.

4. Purchase Order-Western Detention Products for square bolts for food trays in the amount of $23,164.80. Fulgenzi made a motion to approve #1-4 and Douglas-Williams seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

5. Disposal of 2012 Ford Escape. DelGiorno made a motion to approve & Douglas-Williams seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

6. Renewal of the State & Community Highway Safety National Priority Safety Program Grant in the amount of $22,501.47. No matching funds required. Melchin made a motion to approve & Ruzic seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

7. Pre-Travel Approval for Captain Rodney Vose to attend IDEOA Training Conference in East Peoria, IL from April 1-3, 2020 at a cost of $578.50.

8. Pre-Travel Approval for Becky Long & Sgt. Jason Boesdorfer (presenter) to attend the 2020 Women in Criminal Justice Conference in Bloomington, IL from April 7-8, 2020 at a total cost of $420.

9. Pre-Travel Approval for Detective Charlie Bott to attend the IDIAI Educational Conference in Naperville, IL from April 13-16, 2020 at a cost of $566.

10. Pre-Travel Approval for Sgt. Jason Boesdorfer, Sgt. Wes Wooden, Deputy Jesse Budd & Deputy Andy Smith to attend the Illinois Crisis Negotiations Conference in Moline, IL from April 21-24, 2020 at a total cost of $2,048.40. Madonia made a motion to approve #7-10 and Douglas-Williams seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

Acceptance of Purchase Reports – DelGiorno made a motion to approve and Krell seconded. Motion carried (8-0)

Old Business:

 Procurement/Grant Notifications (report-only) none

Douglas-Williams made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ruzic. Motion carried (8-0) and the meeting adjourned at 12:23pm.
