Village of Sherman Board of Trustees met Jan. 23.

VILLAGE BOARD IN ATTENDANCE

Trevor J. Clatfelter, President; Sean Bull, Trustee; Pam Gray, Trustee via remote; Bret Hahn, Trustee; Brian Long, Trustee; Kevin Schultz, Trustee; Krista Sherrock, Trustee

OFFICIALS IN ATTENDANCE

Michael Stratton, Deputy Clerk & Village Administrator; Tiffany Penley, Deputy Treasurer, Craig Bangert, Chief of Police; Aaron Entringer, Deputy Chief of Police

Media: Byron Painter, Sun-Times

PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE (From Sign-In Sheet)

No one signed in.

OPENING

1. Roll Call. Clerk Stratton conducted roll call of the Village Board of Trustees. President Clatfelter noted remote attendance via phone of Trustee Gray. Everyone concurred.

President Clatfelter noted that a quorum was present to conduct Village business.

2. Pledge of Allegiance. SC Deputy Turasky led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Set Agenda. President Clatfelter asked the Board for non-action items to be added to the agenda. There being none, President Clatfelter requested a motion to set the agenda. Motion by Long, seconded by Trustee Hahn. Voice Vote with the Ayes having it 6/0. Motion passed.

CLERK’S REPORT

1. Presentation of Minutes of December 19, 2023 Regular Board Meeting Minutes. Minutes of the December 19, 2023 Regular Board Meeting Minutes were presented for approval. President Clatfelter asked if there were any additions or corrections. There being no additions or corrections, President Clatfelter requested a motion to approve. Motion to Approve the minutes of the December 19, 2023 Regular Board Meeting Minutes as presented by the Clerk was made by Trustee Sherrock, seconded by Trustee Bull. Roll Call Vote Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

2. Presentation of Bills for Approval. President Clatfelter asked if there were any questions of the Board on the Warrants presented by the Clerk. There being no further questions, President Clatfelter called for a motion to approve the warrants as presented. Motion to Authorize the warrants as presented by the Clerk was made by Trustee Hahn, seconded by Trustee Schultz. Roll Call Vote Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT

1. Presentation of Treasurer’s Report November 30, 2023. President Clatfelter presented the Treasurer’s report and asked if there were any questions of the Board. There being none, President Clatfelter called for a Motion to approved the November 30, 2023 Treasurer’s Report as prssented by the Deputy Treasurer was made by Trustee Sherrock, second by Trustee Schultz. Roll Call Vote Ayes having it 6/0.

ENGINEERING REPORT

No Engineering Report.

LEGAL REPORT

No Legal Report.

VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT REPORT

No Administrator’s Report.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT.

1. Resolution 24-01 Re: Sale of Certain Vehicles & Equipment of the Village of Sherman. President Clatfelter requested a brief by Administrator Stratton on the resoulution before ethe Board. Administrator Stratton addressed the Board noting sealed bids were accepted for three vehicles and one mower/spare mower of no further use to the Village. Four bids were received as noted in the resolution and requested approval of the sale. President Clatfelter asked if the Board had any questions. There being none, President Clatfelter called for a Motion to approve Resolution 24-01 Sale of Certain Vehicles and Equipment of the Village of Sherman. Motion by Trustee Long, second by Trustee Hahn. Roll Call Vote with Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

2. Discussion & Possible Action Re: WHS After Prom Support Request 2024. President Clatfelter addressed the Board on the written request of the WHS Boosters for donation to their annual after prom program for 2024. President Clatfelter requested approval of $500 for the donation. President Clatfelter asked if there were any questions of the Board. There being none, President Clatfelter called for Motion to Approve the expenditure of $500 for the 2024 WHS After Prom Program as requested. Motion by Trustee Sherrock, second by Trustee Bull. Roll Call Vote with Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

SHERMAN POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

1. Awards & Recognition Ceremony. Chief Craig Bangert addressed the Board and attendees to announce awards and recognition for Command staff and Officers that have gone above and beyond in the performance of their duties. Recognized was Deputy Chief Entringer, Sergeant Vallar, Officer Hildebrand and Officer Nieto.

No EMA Report.

No PW Report.

President Clatfelter noted there were no further matters to come before the Board and requested a motion to adjourn the public meeting. Motion by Trustee Schultz; seconded by Trustee Long. Voice Vote with Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed. Public Meeting was adjourned at 6:34pm.
