Rep. Coffey recently engaged in a dialogue with members of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau, shedding light on legislative updates from the General Assembly. He expressed his satisfaction in connecting with local farmers and delving into legislation that could have a significant impact on their farming operations and the longstanding tradition of owning farm land.

During the meeting, Rep. Coffey stated, "I was happy to speak with local farmers about certain legislation that could impact their farming operations and family tradition of owning farm land." He also acknowledged the concerns raised by the farmers regarding the state's trajectory and the potential consequences of new policies being formulated by the majority party. "They all raised concerns about the direction our state is going and the unknown results of new policies being crafted by the majority party," Rep. Coffey remarked.

Despite the shared concerns, Rep. Coffey assured the members of his dedication to advocating for legislation that serves the best interests of farmers in the 95th district and Illinois. "Although we share the same concerns, I ensured all members I’m working hard to support legislation that’s best for farmers in the 95th district and Illinois," he affirmed.

Moreover, Rep. Coffey highlighted his support for various House Bills aimed at safeguarding farmers and their land, including HB 4600, HB 1459, HB 1576, HB 1582, HB 2993, and HB 4519, each addressing different aspects of estate taxes and transfers.

The interaction between Rep. Coffey and the local farming community underscored the importance of open communication and collaboration in addressing legislative issues that impact farmers across Illinois.
