Ball-Chatham Community Unified School District 5 Facilities and Grounds Committee met April 10

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendees included, Committee Members Patrick Phipps, Steve Bryant, Superintendent, Dr. Becca Lamon and Mike Dobbs, Director, Facilities and Grounds

1475 E. Plummer Blvd.

The project was awarded to Michael von Behren Buildings and demolition began on October 2, 2023.

The new ductwork is complete and factory start-up of the mechanical equipment is scheduled for April 11, 2024.  All offices and hallways have been painted and painting of the door jambs is in progress. The ceiling grid and lighting is complete in all offices and the ceiling tile installation will begin the week of April 15, 2024. The floor is being prepped for the installation of the vinyl tiles and carpet installation which should begin the week of April 15, 2024. The casework has been delivered to the site and will be installed upon completion of the ceiling grid and lighting in the board room and hallways. The grassy area adjacent to the new sidewalk has been partially graded to improve the transition for the mowing crews. The boiler installation is complete. The new lift station is scheduled to be completed by the week of April 29, 2024.  

GMS Press box

The press box replacement at GMS was awarded to Midwest Construction. The steel structure and the building itself are in the engineering phase. The existing building and structure will be removed after the end of the school year and the new structure will be in place. The delivery date on the new press box has not been established but it will likely not be in place before the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Auditorium Lighting Upgrade

Demolition of the old lighting and associated components is complete. All new conduit and circuit breaker panels have been installed but no wiring has been run to them. All control wiring panels are install as well but no wiring. The wiring to these components is scheduled for the week of April 15, 2025. The project is progressing as expected and on schedule.
