Yesterday, Illinois State Representative Mike Coffey attended the Camp Compass Stakeholder Breakfast in Springfield. He praised Compass for Kids, an organization dedicated to providing academic and social-emotional support to underserved children in Springfield Public Schools. Coffey expressed gratitude towards Molly Berendt Grogan and her team for their significant contributions to the community.

Compass for Kids has been active since 2011, focusing on ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed and thrive. The organization’s mission is “to provide academic and social-emotional support to empower children and families underserved by our community.” Their vision is “that all children in our community experience success and reach their full potential.”

The organization uses evidence-based curricula and assessments to measure the impact of its programs. Data indicates improvements in math, reading, and social-emotional skills among participants. The assessment data is independently evaluated.

Compass for Kids offers various volunteer opportunities that are flexible with schedules. Volunteers can engage as classroom leaders, kitchen helpers, or life skills partners.
