There was one gas station in cities across Sangamon County selling premium gas at the lowest price of $3.57 per gallon in the week ending Mar. 7, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.

The average reported price of premium gas across the county was $4.20 per gallon.

Of the 81 reported gas stations in cities within Sangamon County, 45 offered premium gas.

The statewide average price of premium gas in Illinois was $4.32 per gallon for the week ending Mar. 7, an increase from the previous week.

U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
