FOIA Request to Menard County Sheriff’s Office regarding new recruits application form on July 29, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Menard County Sheriff’s Office by a representative from Sangamon Sun, a media organization dedicated to providing thorough and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. The request, sent on July 29, 2025, seeks access to a PDF copy of the application form used for recruits or applicants at the Sheriff’s Office.

The requester emphasized the importance of accessing public records in order to fulfill professional responsibilities that include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. As a member of the media, they also requested a fee waiver, citing their role in disseminating information as justification.
