Illinois College baseball team falls to Elmhurst after late rally at Joe Brooks Field

The Illinois College baseball team lost to Elmhurst 13-9 on March 15 after a late comeback attempt at Joe Brooks Field in Jacksonville, Illinois.

The game was marked by strong winds and an early lead by Elmhurst, which scored two runs in the first inning and five more in the second. The Blueboys responded in the third inning with RBI singles from Ketch Mills, Nolan Decker, and Jacoby Gross, narrowing the gap to 7-3. Despite this effort, Elmhurst extended its lead with three runs in both the sixth and eighth innings.

Illinois College mounted a significant rally in the bottom of the eighth. After Mills was hit by a pitch and Decker singled, Logan Fleener hit a three-run home run to left field. Additional runs came from a sacrifice fly by Nicholas Muskopf and an RBI single from Tyler Barker, bringing the score to 13-9. The Blueboys finished with 12 hits; Muskopf led with three hits while Walker and Decker each contributed two.

Parker Phillis started on the mound for Illinois College, pitching five innings with six strikeouts before being relieved by Coy Dettmer, Koeyn DeClercq, and Evan Cooper. The Blueboys now hold an 8–5 record for the season while Elmhurst improves to 5-6.
