Illinois College Blueboys split a doubleheader against Monmouth in Midwest Conference action on April 7, dropping the opener 8-7 before winning the second game 11-10.
The games were part of NCAA Division III competition, where Illinois College participates as a member of the Midwest Conference, according to the official website. The contests took place at Joe Brooks Baseball Field, which serves as the home field for Illinois College Blue Boys Baseball.
In game one, Illinois College took an early lead with runs from Nathan Walker and Ethan Klunk but ultimately lost after Monmouth rallied late. Nolan Decker contributed three RBIs and Tyler Barker drove in two runs. Coy Dettmer pitched two innings without allowing an earned run while Xavier Koch was charged with the loss.
The second game saw more offense from both teams. After falling behind early, Illinois College scored six runs in the third inning to take control. Logan Fleener had a standout performance by going 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs. Nicholas Muskopf added three hits and two RBIs while Alex Loman hit a solo home run that helped tie the score late in the game. Aidan Lougeay pitched four innings to secure the win for Illinois College.
