The Illinois College women’s track and field team began the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships with three event titles on Friday at Grinnell Fieldhouse in Grinnell, Iowa. The Lady Blues are currently in fourth place with 43 points, while Grinnell leads the standings with 72.
Illinois College saw victories in both field events and a relay race. The 4×200-meter relay team—composed of Haley Garrett, Fynesse Jones, McKenzie Murray, and Aleese Trimingham—won the conference title and set a meet record with a time of 1:43.99.
In individual field events, Riley Gardner won the high jump by clearing 1.65 meters, and Deja Anderson secured first place in the long jump with a leap of 5.39 meters.
Delanie Teno also finished among the top five for Illinois College, taking third place in the shot put with a mark of 11.70 meters.
The championship is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, with field events starting at 10:00 a.m. and running events beginning at noon.
