The victory allows Illinois College Blue Boys and Lady Blues Esports to move forward to the Grand Finals in Rocket League, as reported by the official website. This achievement highlights their ongoing participation in intercollegiate esports competitions under Illinois College athletics, where men’s teams compete using the Blueboys nickname.
In the semifinal match held in Jacksonville, Illinois, Illinois College took an early lead with a 1-0 win but faced a setback in Game 2 with a score of 0-8. The team responded strongly in Game 3 with a decisive 3-0 finish. Julian Luaders played a key role by taking nine stocks during the final game and helping secure the series for his team.
The box score showed contributions from multiple players: Devin Ussery took six stocks and lost nine; Adam Byrd took three stocks and lost nine; Luaders led with thirteen stocks taken and nine lost; Jake Petrovich contributed six stocks taken and five lost.
