The Illinois College Esports Smash team was defeated by Edinboro University in the opening round of Nationals on April 22, ending a strong season for the Blueboys.
The match began with Illinois College winning Game 1 by a score of 2-0. Edinboro responded by taking Game 2 with a 1-0 victory and secured the series with a 2-0 result in Game 3. Julian Luaders led Illinois College, recording 17 stocks taken and achieving a kill/fall ratio of 1.89. Jake Petrovich contributed six stocks and had a ratio of 1.50 but was unavailable for Game 3 due to an academic commitment.
This loss concludes what the college described as a standout season, including two championships, one runner-up finish, and participation at nationals.
