Illinois College men’s golf team stands 12th after first day at Butts Classic

The Illinois College men’s golf team completed the opening day of the Butts Classic on Apr. 20, finishing in 12th place with rounds of 304 and 308 at the Country Club of Decatur. The tournament is hosted by Millikin.

The event is part of a series of seasonal tournaments in which Illinois College Blue Boys Golf participates, according to the official athletics website. The team was led by Myles Kampwerth, who scored rounds of 75 and 76. Teddy Walbaum posted consecutive rounds of 76, while AJ Odle contributed scores of 76 and 77. Emmitt Brokaw added a round-one score of 77 before shooting an 84 in round two. Isaac Anderson recorded two rounds of 79.

Other competitors included Drake Bartos, who played as an individual and finished with scores of 78 and 87. Zach Diekemper shot rounds of 88 and 92, while Ian Otto posted scores of 88 and 93 as individuals.

Illinois College Blue Boys Golf competes under NCAA Division III rules as part of the Midwest Conference, according to the official athletics website. The program supports student-athletes in balancing their academic commitments alongside athletic responsibilities.

Located in Jacksonville, Illinois College Blue Boys Golf contributes to both collegiate sports and the athletic heritage at Illinois College, serving as a representative men’s golf program within its sector.

The final round for Illinois College will begin tomorrow morning at the Country Club of Decatur.
