The Illinois College men’s tennis team achieved several victories on April 25 during the annual Midwest Conference Individual Tournament held at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The tournament featured strong performances from Illinois College athletes. In singles play, Adi Basic lost his opening match but will move forward to the consolation final due to a bye. Jeff Wernsing won his first match in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-2) before being defeated in the semifinals. Tejas Zala secured a decisive win with a score of 6-1, 6-0 in his first round but exited after the semifinal. Glenn Conway posted a shutout victory (6-0, 6-0) before falling in his semifinal match. Both Andrus Dupre and Grayson Dupre lost their opening matches but advanced to the consolation finals via byes.
In doubles competition, Conway and Dalton Short claimed an opening round victory at No. 2 doubles while Zala and Andrus Dupre did so at No. 3 doubles.
Illinois College Blue Boys Tennis competes in NCAA Division III and participates in regular-season and postseason play within the Midwest Conference, according to the official website.
