The Illinois College women’s tennis team lost its last dual match of the regular season to Greenville, 5-2, on Apr. 21 at the Scott J. Burgess Tennis Complex.
This result concludes a record-setting season for the Lady Blues, who finished with a 16-8-1 dual record. The team achieved the most wins in a single season in program history.
Illinois College started strong by securing the doubles point after victories from two pairs. Alyssa Wise and Clara Bach won their No. 1 doubles match with a tiebreak score of 7-6 (12-10), while Morgan Keefe and Madison Eastin earned a win at No. 3 doubles with a score of 7-5. However, Greenville came back during singles play and won five out of six matches to secure their overall victory. The Lady Blues’ only singles win came from Sabrina Ingram at No. 6, who posted scores of 6-2, 6-0.
According to the official website, Illinois College Lady Blues Tennis features the Blueboys as its mascot and competes in NCAA Division III as part of the Midwest Conference. The program is based in Jacksonville, Illinois according to official information.
The Lady Blues will next compete at the annual Midwest Conference Tournament scheduled for May 2 in Madison, Wisconsin.
