Illinois College’s Jordan Closs has been honored as the Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week. The league made the announcement today.

This marks the second occasion in this season that the junior, hailing from Niantic, Illinois, has received the weekly recognition. Closs demonstrated notable performance with two shutout victories in her conference starts this week. Over the course of 14 innings, she allowed seven hits and struck out 18 batters without giving up any runs.

On Saturday, Closs achieved a two-hitter victory with 12 strikeouts against Beloit and followed it up with a five-hitter and six strikeouts against Lake Forest. In addition to these achievements, during her non-conference appearance against the 14th-ranked Wash U on Wednesday, Closs gave up just one run on three hits over six innings.

Her season record now stands at 7-3, including an undefeated 4-0 in conference play.
