State Representative Jeff Keicher shared his concerns and updates impacting Illinois in a recent newsletter. Keicher highlighted the struggles faced by Republican-sponsored bills in the Illinois House, stating that only 64 out of 643 bills advanced from committees were Republican-sponsored. “There is no justifiable reason to so aggressively limit the minority party except outright partisanship,” he commented. Keicher’s attempt to raise decorum issues within the House led to his microphone being cut off by the Democratic Speaker, after which he was allowed to complete his remarks following objections.
Keicher addressed various state issues, including economic growth, by advocating for the elimination of the franchise tax, which he argued deters investment in Illinois. He introduced House Bill 2846 to facilitate such changes. “Economic growth is essential to solve state financial problems,” he emphasized.
Further, Keicher stressed the urgency of countering human trafficking, commending the efforts of Kane, DeKalb, and McHenry County law enforcement. “I want to extend my thanks and appreciation,” he stated for their work.
On technology, Keicher acknowledged the evolving role of AI and the importance of a balanced regulatory approach. He noted the potential benefits of AI, cautioning against the risks if inadequately managed. “It’s important that we have a balanced approach that protects us from potential harms,” he expressed.
Keicher also expressed support for advancing nuclear energy projects by ending the moratorium on large-scale nuclear projects, highlighting its necessity for economic development and energy reliability. “It is the reliable, carbon-free energy source to help us seize this moment,” Keicher argued.
The newsletter detailed DeKalb County transportation projects slated for 2025, including road resurfacing and construction projects aimed at improving local infrastructure.
Keicher encouraged constituents to participate in local events and extended gratitude for recent accolades, noting, “I will continue to push for that change” as he addressed the future prospects for Illinois.
