In the week ending Feb. 28, one gas station in Sangamon County sold midgrade gas at the lowest reported price of $2.68 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The average reported price of midgrade gas across the county was $3.48 per gallon.
Of the 81 reported gas stations in cities within Sangamon County, 48 offered midgrade gas.
The average reported price for a gallon of midgrade gas in Illinois was $3.56, up from the previous week.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
