Menard County officials report no coronavirus deaths, with 17 confirmed cases

There have been 17 confirmed coronavirus cases in Menard County as of May 27, with no deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (43,778 cases) and Cook County (30,743 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 2,021, while Cook County recorded 1,434 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 803,973, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 40 to 49, with 20,606 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 54,216 were male and 57,657 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 2,812, while female deaths stood at 2,262.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 2,166 Hispanics, 247 Asians, 2,166 whites, 1,517 African-Americans, and 169 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
