Menard County officials report one coronavirus death, with 136 confirmed cases

There have been 136 confirmed coronavirus cases in Menard County as of October 7, with one death linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (82,557 cases) and Cook County (67,843 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 2,983, while Cook County recorded 2,290 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 6,033,289, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 20 to 29, with 61,700 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 144,714 were male and 157,826 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 4,770, while female deaths stood at 4,107.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 4,293 Asians, 4,293 whites, 2,247 African-Americans, 1,763 Hispanics, and 190 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
