Men’s and Women’s Basketball Set for OVC Quarterfinals
SIUE women’s and men’s basketball will compete today, Mar. 2 in the Ohio Valley Conference quarterfinals. The women will face No. 3 Tennessee Tech at 3:30 p.m. and the men will compete against No. 3 UT Martin at 9:00 p.m. Both games will be steamed on ESPN+.
The women are coming off a 71-64 win over No. 7 Tennessee State last night where SIUE shot 43 percent (28-65) in the contest. Macy Silvey led the Cougars’ scoring with 22 points, setting a career high for the freshman guard. Ajulu Thatha added her 13th double double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
SIUE downed Southern Indiana 68-54 last night to advance to the quarterfinals. Damarco Minor tied a career high with 27 points to lead the men to its first-ever win at the OVC tournament. Shamar Wright and Jalen Hodge each scored 10 points in the victory.
