Nathan Walker, a junior for Illinois College Blue Boys Baseball, was named Midwest Conference Baseball Positional Player of the Week on Mar. 23, according to a league announcement.
This is the first time Walker has received this recognition in his collegiate career. The award comes after a strong week at the plate across five games for Illinois College.
Walker recorded eight hits in twenty-one at-bats for a .381 average, scored nine runs, and drove in five runs batted in. He also had three extra-base hits during the week, including two home runs and a triple. His standout performance occurred against Westminster when he went three-for-four with both a triple and a home run.
Walker continued to reach base throughout the week and played an important role in several scoring rallies for Illinois College. The team will begin its Midwest Conference schedule on Saturday with a doubleheader against Beloit College at Joe Brooks Field.
