There were 17 offenders convicted of property crimes released on parole in Sangamon County during the second quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that 12 men and five women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for property crimes was 39. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old woman sentenced in 2020, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Keyannya L. Simpson. She was convicted in 2018 when she was 36 years old. She is now 38.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
