State Representative Jeff Keicher announced on Mar. 20 that his office is now accepting resumes for a paid summer internship program, offering high school and college students the chance to work in a state legislative office.
The program aims to give students practical experience in government operations and community engagement. The internship will run from June 1 to August 15, with some flexibility on start and end dates. Interns will be paid $17.50 per hour.
According to the announcement, interns will primarily work out of the District Office in Sycamore but may also assist at the satellite office in Hampshire or other locations within the 70th House District. Responsibilities include constituent services such as correspondence and casework, researching issues, assisting with drafting bills, participating in events on behalf of Representative Keicher, and engaging with local nonprofits and civic organizations.
Applicants must be college students or recent graduates, or junior/senior high school students or recent graduates. Additional requirements include having a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, flexible availability, an interest in state government, and a positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
Keicher said he is seeking “hard-working and passionate summer interns” who are “outgoing, organized, engaged and want to experience working in a state legislative office.”
Keicher has represented Illinois’ 70th House District since being elected in 2018 as a Republican, succeeding Robert W. Pritchard according to Ballotpedia.
Interested applicants can call 815-748-3494 or email their resume by May 15.
