State Representative Wayne Rosenthal announced on March 13 that his office is partnering with HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital to collect new stuffed animals and blankets for children in the hospital’s care. The Comfort for Kids Drive, organized by the HSHS St. John’s Foundation, will run from March 4 until April 3, with donations accepted at Rosenthal’s district office in Springfield.
The initiative aims to provide comfort and happiness to children recovering from serious illness or injury during their hospital stay. Community members in the 108th District are encouraged to participate by donating items that can help brighten a child’s experience while receiving medical care.
“Children from across the state receive outstanding care and services from St. John’s and the Comfort for Kids Drive is our way of joining with others in our community to help bring happiness to children in care at the hospital,” said Rosenthal.
Donations can be dropped off at E-1 Stratton Office Building, 401 S. Spring Street, Springfield, Illinois. For more information about how to contribute, residents may contact Representative Rosenthal’s office by phone or email as provided in the announcement.
Rosenthal was elected as a Republican representative to the Illinois State House in 2023, succeeding Charles Meier as representative of the state’s 108th House District according to Ballotpedia.
The Comfort for Kids Drive reflects ongoing efforts within local communities to support young patients and foster a sense of compassion among residents.
