Greater Springfield Chamber to host new business development workshop
The Greater Springfield, Illinois Chamber of Commerce will be holding a free workshop for those looking to start a business in the state on Wednesday, March 16.
The workshop is scheduled to take place between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The event will be focused on the development of a business plan, financing and the legal process required in order to be recognized as a business entity within the state. This workshop will be held at the Capital City Training Center at Lincoln Land Community College.
The state’s website states that to be registered as as a business, owners select the firm's structure and register the name of the business. Businesses must also register for business taxes at the federal and state levels alongside local tax requirements. The site also indicates that businesses also must have insurance set up in areas including unemployment, worker’s compensation and other related areas.
The website also lists information regarding the legal processes for patents, trademarks and copyrighting materials or inventions created by the new business or individuals associated with the business.
The chamber is aims to facilitate the economic development within Sangamon County; it represents approximately 1,600 organizations in the county.
