Springfield Committee of the Whole considers public works bids

The Springfield, Illinois City Council Committee of the Whole met this week to discuss bids and contracts relating to the Public Works Department, among other matters.

A total of three bids were considered during this meeting. One of these bids came from Truman L. Flatt & Sons Co. and the company would supply construction furnishing work in relation to a portion of a bituminous overlay project in 2017. This bid project has a cost limitation of $8,829,187.23. Pavementinteractive.org states that this kind of work offers waterproofing and filler for cracked pavement.

The second bid was submitted by P.H. Broughton & Sons Co. in order to support a different portion of the overlay project mentioned within the first bid. This contract will have a limitation of $8,518,526.02.

The third bid that was considered was submitted by Otto Baum Co. Inc. and would be providing street maintenance for the Brick Street program with a cost ceiling of $2,010,884.64. This project is also scheduled for 2017.

This meeting also considered ordinances that would facilitate contracts relating to real estate purchases with the city and Nesbitt Enterprises LLC and Charles Bellemey, respectively.
