Election Oversight Committee receives clerk reports

The Sangamon, Illinois County Election Oversight Committee held its last meeting this week prior to the scheduled primaries that are set to take place on March 15.

During this meeting, the committee reviewed reports from County Clerk Don Gray and DIrector of Elections, Stacey Kern, regarding operations of their respective offices and duties. The committee is tasked with financial monitoring of the budget for the county clerk.

Minutes from the committee's previous meeting that took place on Feb. 9 were reviewed and voted on for approval.

Candidates for the positions of County Auditor, the County Coroner, County Clerk, County Recorder and County State’s Attorney as well as county board seat candidates will be determined in the primary election.

This committee typically meets on the second Tuesday each month. The next committee and county board meeting dates have been moved to a week earlier, with both meetings taking place on Tuesday, April 5.
