City of Athens issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.
Crews have worked through the night replacing the section of pipe that had ruptured. They are currently tightening down the connector sleeves on each end of the replacement pipe. Once that is complete the water to that area will be turned on and the area will be checked for leaks. If everything is good, they will begin filling the hole. Please remember that Jackson St between Redwood and Wilson is closed. If you live in the area off Jackson where the street is closed please utilize Wilson Road to avoid where crews are working.
Please note that the boil order remains in effect until further notice!
