Q1 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Sangamon County?

There were 78 offenders released on parole during the first quarter that live in Sangamon County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that 74 men and four women were released in Sangamon County. Of the parolees, five were veterans, and the median age was 38. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest was a 61-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Robert B. Collingwood. He was convicted of homicide in 1997 when he was 23 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
