There were two offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol released on parole near Illinois zip code 62702 during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in 62702 were men. The younger parolee was a 56-year-old man sentenced in 2011. The other was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Robert P. Keppler. He was convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2011 when he was 47 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
