State Sen. Sally J. Turner of Illinois General Assembly leveled criticism at the current administration on Nov. 1, expressing concerns about a perceived lack of focus on state affairs. “We fear this administration is more focused on national politics and not managing the problems in our own state. Unfortunately, too many agencies are part of the dysfunction and mismanagement and lack of accountability,” said Turner.
Turner stressed that instead of seeing improvements, there have been ongoing issues under the present leadership. She added that distractions outside the state should not divert attention from internal matters. “Illinois cannot afford to have the head of the executive branch distracted by what may or may not be happening in other states. This is not a partisan issue. The governor needs to be more focused on Illinois and we need THINK Illinois”, she said.
The first time senator who was elected to office in 2021 hails from Beason and serves on several legislative committees including the Ethics Committee and Senate Higher Education Committee according to information provided by the Illinois Senate.
In related news, Gov. J.B Pritzker launched his nonprofit Think Big America in Oct., an offshoot from his ‘Think Big’ campaign theme from his gubernatorial run in 2018.
A noteworthy aspect of Think Big America is its advocacy for ballot measures that aim to safeguard abortion rights. High-profile members such as businessperson Desirée Rogers, state Rep. Margaret Croke, and Chicago Alderman Michelle Harris sit on its board of directors.
