Village of Chatham Village Board met Feb. 24

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Meeting Opening

1.1 Village President Dave Kimsey called the Regular Village Board meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Present: Village Trustee Kristen Chiaro; Village Trustee Carl Try; Village Trustee Tim Nice; Village Trustee John Fletcher and Village President Dave Kimsey.

Absent: Village Trustee Brett Gerger and Village Trustee Meredith Ferguson

Others Present: Village Manager Pat McCarthy; Village Attorney Andrew Jarmer; Chief of Police Vern Foli; Village Emergency Manager Trent Thompson and Village Clerk Dan Holden

1.5 Public Announcements

Chatham Police Chief Vern Foli presented the Chatham Police Officer of the Year award to Officer Adam Dierkes. The audience, consisting of Dierkes family members, village staff and members of the Village Board, applauded and congratulated the efforts of Officer Dierkes.

1.6. Public Comments on Agenda Topics

There were no Public Comments on Agenda Topics.

2. Old Business

There was no Old Business conducted at this meeting.

3. New Business

3.1 Ordinance 26-06 Amending Village Code of Ordinances Section 158.076 on Fences. A motion was made by Trustee Try to bring Ordinance 26-06 to the table for discussion. This motion was seconded by Trustee Fletcher.  By a 4-0-0-2 vote of the Trustees, the motion passed. The vote was as follows: Trustee Fletcher – yes; Trustee Ferguson – absent; Trustee Nice – yes; Trustee Chiaro – yes; Trustee Gerger – absent; Trustee Try – yes.

4. Consent Agenda

4.1 Warrants Resolution 06-26.

4.2 Meeting Minutes from the Regular Board meeting on February 10, 2026.

A motion was made by Trustee Chiaro to bring the Consent Agenda to the table for discussion. This motion was seconded by Trustee Nice. By a 4-0-0-2 vote of the Trustees, the motion passed. The vote was as follows: Trustee Ferguson – absent; Trustee Try – yes; Trustee Nice – yes; Trustee Fletcher – yes; Trustee Gerger – absent; Trustee Chiaro – yes.

5. Public Comment on Village Business

There was no Public Comment on Village Business at this meeting.

6. Next Scheduled Meeting

6.1 Village Board 6:00 p.m. at Municipal Hall on March 10, 2026.

There was no need for Executive Session at this meeting

A motion was made by Trustee Chiaro to adjourn the Regular Village Board meeting. This motion was seconded by Trustee Fletcher. By an affirmative voice vote of the Trustees present, the motion passed, and the meeting adjourned at 6:09 p.m.
