Analysis: Springfield pays $4.77 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Springfield Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82.6 percent of the $10,953,467 the Springfield Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.77 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Springfield contributed $9,050,592 to the fund, which saw a $611,870 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $1,895,118, or 17.3 percent, in 2016. Another $7,757 came from other unspecified sources.
