Analysis: Springfield pays $4.90 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Springfield Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.1 percent of the $12,180,358 the Springfield Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.90 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Springfield contributed $10,116,706 to the fund, which saw a $337,718 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $2,063,652, or 16.9 percent, in 2018.
