The Board of Education of Pleasant Plains, Illinois discussed matters relating to employment during its recent meeting.
A closed executive session was called at the start of the meeting. State law allows closed meetings when subject matter pertains to employment, staffing, litigation and disciplinary actions against any individual student or member of staff. The meeting was reopened after the executive session.
Following the closed session the board voted to approve the hiring of two individual aides and a track volunteer coach in high jump at Farmingdale High School.
Superintendent Matt Runge also was granted a contract extension and would serve in this position until the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Both of these votes were unanimous.
The board also voted to accept the retirement of a preschool aide and the resignation of an individual aide and a part-time teacher. These were also approved unanimously.
Prior to the executive session, student achievements were recognized. During the public section of the meeting, a local resident addressed the board stating that since the bus barn was built at 215 North Jefferson, the individual has experienced flooding each time it rains. The board stated that it would look into this matter.
