Springfieldpublicschools

The Springfield, Illinois Public Schools Board of Education approved personnel recommendations during its March 8 meeting.

Personnel actions consisted of resignations and releases that have had contracts fulfilled as well as those that are to be hired or rehired. These moves cover both regular district employees and those that work within the Lawrence Education Program. The board also reviewed a list of those who have taken a leave of absence and those that will be taking one in the near future.

The board voted to approve the personnel recommendations on a unanimous basis. Recommendations were made by Superintendent Jennifer Gill, Director of Springfield Public Schools Gina McLaughlin-Schurman and Manager of Contract Benefits, Diana Bascio.

During this meeting the board also considered an amendment to the Health Life Safety Survey. The study includes estimates for repairs that are being considered by the board, including the replacement of a boiler, a partial roof replacement at four schools and the removal of asbestos floor tiles in restrooms at Laketown and Sandburg Elementary Schools.

Pricing estimates for each school range between $12,000 and $618,300 for associated projects.
