Williams Township Cemeteries Board of Trustees met August 14.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Williams Township Cemetery Board was called to order at 6:25 P.M. by President Nadine Hayward. In attendance was Trustee Duane Weiss. Trustee Mark Phillips was absent and excused.

The July 10, 2017 minutes were reviewed and Duane Weiss made a motion to accept the minutes as written.

The monthly finances were reviewed, signed, and Duane Weiss made a motion to accept the finances as presented.

Nadine Hayward received a letter from Prairie Power Inc. regarding an easement at Walnut Hill Cemetery to install a 138 kV electrical transmission line. She will be contacted by William J. Platt III to discuss acquiring this easement.

Recently we have had a trail cam set up at Walnut Hill Cemetery due to many holes being dug within the cemetery, possibly due to a badger, coyote, or some other predator. After reviewing the footage taken we observed 2 individuals shooting air rifles within the cemetery. According to the IL statute 765/1 (from chapter21, par. 15), it is unlawful to “hunt, shoot or discharge any gun, pistol or other missile within the limits of any cemetery.” The individuals were told to cease and desist. The holes have greatly reduced, but occasionally we still see a few new holes.

Nadine Hayward contacted Harold Carter and scheduled a work day Thursday, August 17, to chip tree stumps and treat the Ash trees.

Duane Weiss will try to get the 4 corners on Section 5 permanently marked so that we can start to mark out the graves.

The dirt pile has been significantly reduced and cleaned up at Walnut Hill.

Hopefully, we will be able to get to Wolf Creek and Stewert Cemeteries Thursday with the chipper.

We need both a string trimmer and a hedge trimmer for the cemeteries. Duane Weiss will try to get this done this week.

Duane Weiss will be out of town during our next scheduled meeting and asked that week delay our meeting to September 18. Motion carried.

Adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
