Village of Chatham Village Board met May 8. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

A. Call to Order


1. Moment of Silence

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Roll Call

Present: Trustee Mann, Mau, Scherschel, Gerger, Lindhorst, and Village President Kimsey. Absent: Trustee Fountain

Others present: Clerk Dahlkamp, Village Administrator McCarthy, Police Chief Foli, and Attorney Jurgens.

4. Public Announcements

Les Morgan- Requested access to the Veteran Memorial Park for the Memorial Day ceremony May 28th, at 10 am. Announced that this coming Friday (May 11th) the Daughter's of the American Revolution will be having a dedication ceremony to a veteran at 10:30 at the cemetery. Mr. Morgan also noted that in June the Chatham Homecoming will be taking place.

Village President Kimsey- Thanked the Chatham Jaycees and all of the other volunteers and organizations who took time and helped the community for the trash/electronic recycle event the village held. He also showed his gratitude for the retirement badge that will be given to Sergeant Drabing for his service with the Chatham Police Department over the past 28 years. He stated the village has a policy that was implemented years ago with how retirements are conducted from village funding. Kimsey also said he spoke to Sergeant Drabing on possible solutions for properly honoring the next retiree if village funding is not available.

Trustee Scherschel- Thanked Nestle Purina Pet Care for the abundance of dog food they provided the current village K-9 and the K-9 who just retired.

Trustee Lindhorst- Lindhorst wanted to go on record to state she did not agree with the way the village handled the retirement badge for Sergeant Drabing.

5. Public Comments Agenda Topics

Bonnie Bilick- Thanked Trustee Mann for giving her answers to her recent questions. Expressed the Sergeant Drabing retirement badge could have been handled differently. Expressed concerns over the water rate increase.

B. Consent Agenda

1. Regular Village Board Meeting Minutes from Tuesday, April 24th 2018

2. Warrants Resolution 22-18

Trustee Mau moved, seconded by Trustee Mann to put the consent agenda on the table for action. The consent agenda passed 5 yes, 0 no, and 1 absent as follows: Trustee Mann yes, Lindhorst yes, Gerger yes, Mau yes, Scherschel yes, and Fountain absent.

C. Old Business

1. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE VILLAGE CODE PROVISIONS ON EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND LIABILITY

Village President Kimsey announced this ordinance is going to stay on-hold. It will be on old business at the next board meeting.

D. New Business

1. A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE WATER RATES FOR THE VILLAGE OF CHATHAM, Resolution 23-18

Trustee Mau moved, seconded by Trustee Gerger to put the resolution on the table for action. Resolution 23-18 passed 5 yes, 0 no, and 1 absent as follows: Trustee Mann yes, Lindhorst yes, Gerger yes, Mau yes, Scherschel yes, and Fountain absent.

2. Public Comments Village Business

Andrea Parker- Questioned when the water rates are going to stop increasing. Reiterated that change needs to happen.

Trustee Mau moved, seconded by Trustee Gerger to adjourn the meeting. This was passed by voice vote at 6:15 p.m.
