Village of Chatham Fire & Police Commission met May 17. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

A. Call to Order

1. Moment of Silence

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Roll Call

Present: Chairman Woods, Diane Vanderkooy, and Jared Koester.

Others Present: Police Chief Foli, Village Administrator McCarthy, and Clerk Dahlkamp.

4. Public Comments Agenda Topics

There were no public comments on agenda topics.

B. Old Business

1. Approve Minutes from the February 12, 2018 Meeting

Jared Koester moved, seconded by Diane Vanderkooy to approve the minutes. This was passed 3 yes, 0 no, and 0 absent as follows: Koester yes, Vanderkooy yes, and Chairman Woods yes.

2. Discuss revisions to the Commission rules

Both Chairman Woods and Vanderkooy attended a conference that expanded their knowledge on what needs to be included in the Commission Rules. They stated statute is not 100% represented in the rules and there are best practices that need to be included. This will lessen the chance of litigation. Chairman Woods and Vanderkooy went through every page and noted their recommended revisions. Once the said revisions are made, all members are going to look over it again before it is going to be voted on for passing.

C. New Business

1. Approval of Commission Rules

With revisions still pending, this will be moved to old business at the next meeting for passing.

2. Public Comments Village Business

There were no public comments on village business.

D. Meeting Dates

1. Chatham Fire & Police Commission Meeting August 16th, 2018 6:00 PM

E. Closed Session

There was NO closed session this evening.

F. Closing

1. Adjournment

Diane Vanderkooy moved, seconded by Jared Koester to adjourn the meeting. This was approved by voice vote at 5:55 PM.
