City of Springfield issued the following announcement on Aug. 31.

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Downtown Springfield, 1 Old State Capitol
FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Anthony Rubano from the Illinois Historic preservation Agency will
conduct a tour of historic downtown Springfield highlighting various architectural styles, designs and
areas of improvement that make up the unique downtown district. This month’s tour begins West on
Adams Street and takes you past sites including Herndon’s Department Store, the former First United
Methodist Church, Jackson Street and the AT&T Building. The tour will end with a complimentary
reception at a local downtown establishment. The tour is sponsored by Illinois Realtors.
