Call to Order:
The Board of Trustees of the Bensenville Community Public Library District held a Public Hearing on Monday September 17, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 7:32 pm by Susan Diamond, President.
Trustees Present: Mandi Zalewski, Linda Weiss, Jim Ricker, Susan Diamond, Tina Lux, Kathy Quinn
Trustees Absent: Susan Earley
The Chair verified the existence of a quorum.

Public Hearing:
The Chair opened the Public Hearing at 7:32 p.m. on the Certification of Public Notices
Tentative Budget and Appropriation for the fiscal year July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019 from taxes to be levied for the year 2018.
The Secretary verified the Certification of the following legal notices:
1) Board approved Tentative Budget and Appropriation July 16, 2018
2) Publication of Legal Notice of 30-day public inspection and public hearing in the Bensenville Independent July 26, 2018.
The Secretary presented the Combined Annual Budget and Appropriation Ordinance No. 985-18
The Chair declared the meeting open for discussion.

Discussion:
Appointment of New Youth Services Coordinator:
Amanda Carr tendered resignation September 2, 2018. Early Childhood Librarian Kyrie Kenny-Sumrak offered position, and accepted. Kenny-Sumrak has worked at the library for four years.
ILA, Trustee Day 10/11/18:
Conference will be held in Peoria this year. Marketing Coordinator Samantha Parkison will present with a Marketing colleague from Carol Stream.

TLC Programming Update:
The Transition School is set to start staff led curriculum in October. Classes will be the same as last year. Students will work in the green house with Stanek, Sue Feddersen will also assist. The snack cart will start back up in October.
Election Update:
Three Trustee positions are available for re-election in April. Packets will be available in early October and are due the 1st week of December.
Affiliations:
BIG- Administrators will meet soon.
Bensenville Community Foundation- Members will meet at the end of the month and elect officers.
Rails/Swan- Circulation Advisory Committee will meet September 19, 2018.

Library Programs and Services:
Adult Services Update: Hispanic Heritage Month has started. The First event Sones de Mexico at Blackhawk had 60 attendees.
Passport training has been completed by all the librarians. Sloan has submitted paperwork and is waiting on the State for next step in process.
Youth Services Update: - Programs are going well. Revamping teen/tween programs as they just want a space to hang out. They enjoy crafts, video games and board games. Sieffert and Kenny-Sumrak visited Teen Zone and acquired beanbag chairs for the library.
Early Childhood programming update with Kyrie Kenny-Sumrak
Yoga Story time is successful. KBC has nine to ten children.
Book club growth has been slow, but department is committed to growing attendance.
Community Information
Bensenville: Images of America: Book release reception, Thursday September 20, 2018 7:00pm: Small, informal gathering. Sieffert will do an introduction. Invitations were sent to all taxing bodies and their Board. Jonathan also included personal invitees.
Rotary community connections: Wednesday September 19, 2018: Randall Residences: A networking event for the community.
B-Well Bensenville\ Street beat 5k: Saturday September 29, 2018: 8:00am Deer Grove Leisure Center: Recorded a radio ad. Will also be mentioned on WGN soon. There are 40 vendors, games, and lunch provided by Sodexo. Event will be held at the Park District. Lions will do vision testing. The library will have a table with information.
Trunk or Treat: Tuesday October 30, 2018 from 4-6pm Tioga, Johnson, BMS: Last year there were close to 900 children. Bus transportation will be provided. To be held outdoors this year weather permitting.
Rotary Spaghetti Dinner Scholarship Fundraiser: Thursday November 8, 2018 at White Pines: $60.00 per ticket. Supports a good cause. Raises eight thousand in scholarships each year.
