Former state university employee Huth Taylor paid in $7K to pension fund, could collect $145K in retirement

Former state university employee Elizabeth Huth Taylor, who retired in June 2016, saved $7,092 toward a pension over 13 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Huth Taylor would collect as much as $144,884, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Sangamon Sun.

The projection assumes Huth Taylor received $3,045 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Huth Taylor will have already received $9,411 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
