Cost of college went up for all students at William Rainey Harper College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.9 percent for 2018-19 at William Rainey Harper College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $9,852 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $186 more than the $9,666 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 18.4 percent more than residents this year, or $11,664. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 1.6 percent from $11,478 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents.

Data shows 54 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 730 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.9 million and 106 students took out student loans totaling more than $458,018.

Including all undergraduates (13,530), 3,919 students used grants or scholarships totaling $16 million, and 786 students took out $4.4 million in federal student loans.
