ST. JOHN'S HOSPITAL SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS: Giving Tuesday Represents A Global Day Dedicated To Giving Back

St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

HSHS St. John’s Hospital Foundation has joined the global Giving Tuesday effort and asks the community to consider donating to HSHS St. John’s Hospital on this day of giving.

“We hope it gives you peace of mind to know that you are doing something significant for the health and well-being of your community,” said Bev Neisler, chief development officer. “Today, more than ever, your donation will save lives.”

Giving Tuesday represents a global day dedicated to giving back. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (December 1, 2020), charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world come together to celebrate generosity and helping others. Giving Tuesday is held annually after the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate to improve their local communities and give back in impactful ways to charities and other causes they support.

Financial contributions are vital to the healing ministry of St. John’s Hospital. The HSHS St. John’s Foundation was established to advance the Mission of the hospital to provide health care to all and carry the hospital’s values and traditions for future generations. By giving to the local foundation, you can be assured that your donation is making a difference for patients, their families and the community.

As a nonprofit hospital, HSHS St. John’s Hospital relies on contributions to provide health care services to Springfield and the surrounding communities. Last year alone, HSHS St. John’s Foundation provided more than $2 million to the hospital for investments in programs, facility upgrades and clinical equipment. Those donated funds provided for items such as nursing scholarships, clinical equipment for the surgery department, new beds for the Intensive Care Unit, wheelchairs and the renovation of the Pediatric Healing Garden. These only represent a few programs and projects supported by philanthropy.
